JNTU
JNTU B.Pharmacy IV ADVANCED INSTRUMENTATION TECHNIQUES Previous Question Paper (July - 2023 - R17)
Part A is compulsory (25 Marks). In Part B, answer any one question from each unit (10 marks each).
Part A
What is Coupling constant under NMR Spectroscopy?
Answer
The Coupling constant (denoted by J) is the measure of the interaction between neighboring non-equivalent magnetic nuclei in NMR spectroscopy. It represents the frequency separation (in Hertz) between the peaks of a multiplet caused by spin-spin splitting, and it is independent of the applied magnetic field strength.
Sketch the block diagram of instrumentation of Mass Spectroscopy.
Answer
The basic block diagram of a Mass Spectrometer consists of the following components in sequence:
Sample Inlet → Ion Source → Mass Analyzer → Ion Detector → Data System (Recorder/Computer).
