JNTU B.Tech IV AVIONICS AND INSTRUMENTS Previous Question Paper (July - 2019 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Write any two requirements that are to be met by civil avionics systems.
Answer
Two primary requirements for civil avionics systems are high reliability to ensure flight safety and strict adherence to certification standards (such as DO-178C for software and DO-254 for hardware) to guarantee airworthiness.
Define the term ‘modularity’. How it is achieved in avionics used on aircraft.
Answer
Modularity refers to the design approach of breaking down a complex avionics system into independent, interchangeable units or modules that perform specific functions. It is achieved through the use of standardized hardware interfaces, common backplanes (such as ARINC 600 or ARINC 664), and open-system architectures that allow for easy upgrades and maintenance without redesigning the entire system.
