JNTU B.Tech II PRINCIPLES OF SOIL SCIENCE AND AGRONOMY Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R13)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
PART A
What is Humification process?
Answer
Humification is the complex biochemical process by which organic residues (plant and animal remains) are decomposed and transformed into humus, a stable, dark-colored, colloidal organic substance that resists further rapid decomposition.
Define active and passive soil farming factors and give examples.
Answer
Active factors are those that supply energy and drive the soil-forming process; these include climate (e.g., rainfall, temperature) and organisms (e.g., vegetation, microbes). Passive factors provide the material and conditions for soil formation; these include parent material, topography (relief), and time.
