Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

PART - A

125 marks
a

What do you understand by modeling and simulation?

2 marks

Answer

Modeling is the process of creating a mathematical representation of a physical system using equations to describe its behavior. Simulation is the act of executing this model, typically on a computer, to predict how the system responds to various inputs or conditions over time.

b

Explain the meaning of the following tire size codes: i) 10.00R20 14(G) ii) 480/80R46155A8

3 marks

Answer

i) 10.00R20 14(G): 10.00 represents the nominal section width in inches, R denotes radial construction, 20 is the rim diameter in inches, and 14(G) indicates the ply rating or load range.

ii) 480/80R46 155A8: 480 is the section width in mm, 80 is the aspect ratio (%), R denotes radial construction, 46 is the rim diameter in inches, 155 is the load index, and A8 is the speed rating.

c

Explain the variation of longitudinal tire force with various slip angles in detail.
