Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

What do you mean by plane surveying?

2 marks

Answer

Plane surveying is a branch of surveying where the surface of the earth is considered as a plane surface. It is used for small areas (typically less than 250 sq. km) where the curvature of the earth is neglected, and all triangles formed are treated as plane triangles.

b

What are the various accessories required in linear measurements?

3 marks

Answer

The essential accessories for linear measurements include:

  • Arrows (marking pins) for marking the end of a chain or tape length.
  • Ranging rods for establishing intermediate points on a straight line.
  • Pegs for marking station points on the ground.
  • Plumb bobs for transferring points or ensuring verticality.
  • Cross staff or optical square for setting out right angles.
