JNTU B.Tech III CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY Previous Question Paper (March - 2024 - R16)
Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
What is initial setting time of cement?
Answer
Initial setting time is the duration between the addition of water to cement and the time when the paste begins to lose its plasticity, typically measured using the Vicat apparatus. For Ordinary Portland Cement, it is specified to be not less than 30 minutes.
What are the applications of mineral admixtures in concretes?
Answer
Mineral admixtures such as fly ash, silica fume, and ground granulated blast furnace slag are used to: 1) Improve workability and reduce water demand; 2) Enhance long-term strength and durability by refining pore structure; 3) Reduce heat of hydration and control thermal cracking in mass concrete.
