JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech III Year WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (May/June - 2019 - R16)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Define hydrology.
Answer
Hydrology is the science that deals with the occurrence, circulation, and distribution of water on the Earth and its atmosphere, including the physical and chemical properties of water and its interaction with the environment.
What do mean by infiltration indices?
Answer
Infiltration indices are average rates of infiltration used to estimate the volume of runoff from a storm. The two common indices are the phi-index (the constant rate of infiltration above which rainfall volume equals runoff volume) and the W-index (the average infiltration rate during the entire storm duration, excluding initial losses).
