JNTUH B.Tech III GENERAL GEOLOGY Previous Question Paper (February - 2023 - R18)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Write the following:
Earth-Crust, and Mantle.
Answer
The Earth's Crust is the outermost, thin, brittle layer of the Earth, varying in thickness from 5-10 km under oceans to 30-70 km under continents. The Mantle lies beneath the crust and extends to a depth of about 2,900 km, composed of silicate rocks rich in magnesium and iron, exhibiting plastic behavior due to high temperatures and pressures.
Erosion and deposition of Earth.
Answer
Erosion is the process by which surface materials are worn away and transported by natural agents like water, wind, and ice. Deposition is the subsequent laying down or settling of these eroded sediments in new locations, such as river deltas, beaches, or basins, leading to the formation of new landforms.
