JNTU B.Tech II ENGINEERING GEOLOGY Previous Question Paper (April/May - 2018 - R16)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Differentiate geology and engineering geology.
Answer
Geology is the broad science dealing with the study of the Earth, its composition, structure, and history. Engineering geology is a specialized branch that applies geological principles and knowledge to civil engineering practices to ensure the safety, stability, and economy of construction projects.
Differentiate streak and cleavage.
Answer
Streak is the color of a mineral in its powdered form, obtained by rubbing the mineral against a streak plate. Cleavage is the tendency of a mineral to break along specific, smooth, parallel planes of weakness due to its internal atomic structure.
