JNTU B.Tech III WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING-I Previous Question Paper (May/June - 2019 - R13)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Explain what is PMP.
Answer
Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) is the theoretically greatest depth of precipitation for a given duration that is physically possible over a given size storm area at a particular geographical location at a certain time of the year.
Explain different forms of precipitation.
Answer
Precipitation occurs in various forms depending on the atmospheric conditions:
- Rain: Water droplets with diameters greater than 0.5 mm.
- Snow: Ice crystals formed by sublimation of water vapor at temperatures below freezing.
- Drizzle: Fine water droplets with diameters less than 0.5 mm.
- Glaze: Rain or drizzle freezing upon contact with cold ground surfaces.
- Hail: Ice pellets with diameters greater than 5 mm, typically occurring during thunderstorms.
Distinguish between TRH and DRH.
