Answer PaperPaper Code: 151AGMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Answer all questions in Part A. Answer any one question from each unit in Part B.

Part A

125 marks
a

State Norton’s Theorem.

2 marks

Answer

Norton's Theorem states that any linear, bilateral, active network consisting of independent or dependent voltage and current sources and resistors can be replaced by an equivalent circuit consisting of a single current source (Norton current, IN) in parallel with a single resistor (Norton resistance, RN) connected across the same two terminals.

b

Write short notes on voltage source and current source.

3 marks

Answer

A voltage source is a two-terminal device that maintains a constant voltage across its terminals regardless of the current drawn from it. An ideal voltage source has zero internal resistance.

A current source is a two-terminal device that delivers a constant current to the external circuit regardless of the voltage across its terminals. An ideal current source has infinite internal resistance.
