JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech III INTERNETWORKING with TCPIP Previous Question Paper (January/February - 2023 - R18)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Why do you think that we do not need Addresses at the Physical Layer?
Answer
The Physical Layer is responsible for the transmission of raw bit streams over a physical medium. Since it operates on a point-to-point or broadcast link where the destination is physically connected to the sender, the hardware interface inherently knows where the data is going, making logical or physical addressing unnecessary at this level.
What is Loop problem in a Learning Bridge?
Answer
A loop problem occurs in a learning bridge network when there are redundant paths between segments. If a bridge receives a frame and cannot find the destination in its table, it floods the frame to all ports; if multiple bridges are connected in a loop, the frame can circulate indefinitely, leading to broadcast storms and network congestion.
