B.Tech | III | II | R16 | August/September - 2024

Answer PaperPaper Code: 136FUMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B.
ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions.
iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

What are the types of aerial photographs? And explain any one in detail.

2 marks

Answer

Aerial photographs are primarily classified into vertical and oblique photographs. A vertical photograph is taken with the camera axis pointed as nearly as possible to the nadir (directly downward). These are primarily used for mapping and photogrammetric measurements because they provide a relatively uniform scale across the image and minimize geometric distortion.

b

Write short note on Differential parallax.

3 marks

Answer

Differential parallax refers to the difference in the parallax values of two points at different elevations on a stereoscopic pair of aerial photographs. It is the fundamental principle used to determine the height of objects from aerial imagery. By measuring the parallax difference between the top and base of an object, the height can be calculated using the flying height and air base.
