JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech III REMOTE SENSING AND GIS Previous Question Paper (May - 2019 - R16)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
Define the term image parallax.
Answer
Image parallax is the apparent displacement or change in the position of an object in an image relative to a reference point, caused by a change in the observer's position or the camera's perspective. In aerial photography, it refers to the shift in the position of an image of an object on successive overlapping photographs due to the motion of the aircraft.
Write a short note on fundamentals of stereoscopy.
Answer
Stereoscopy is the technique of creating the illusion of three-dimensional depth from two-dimensional images. It relies on binocular vision, where each eye views a slightly different perspective of the same scene. In remote sensing, this is achieved by capturing two overlapping aerial photographs (stereopair) from different camera stations. When viewed through a stereoscope, the brain fuses these two images to perceive depth, allowing for the measurement of terrain elevation and the creation of topographic maps.
