Answer PaperPaper Code: 124DNMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

What is a ringing circuit? What are its applications?

2 marks

Answer

A ringing circuit is an underdamped RLC series circuit that produces a damped sinusoidal oscillation when excited by a step input. Its applications include generating high-frequency oscillations, triggering circuits, and acting as a time-base generator component.

b

How high pass RC network works as differentiator.

3 marks

Answer

A high-pass RC circuit acts as a differentiator when the time constant (RC) is very small compared to the input pulse width. Under this condition, the capacitor charges and discharges rapidly, making the output voltage proportional to the rate of change of the input voltage, represented by the formula:

Vo(t) ≈ RC (dVi/dt)
c
