JNTU B.Tech III CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (July/August - 2023 - R13)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
(25 Marks)
Explain the effect of negative feedback in control systems.
Answer
Negative feedback in control systems significantly improves performance by reducing the sensitivity of the system to parameter variations and external disturbances. It also increases the bandwidth of the system, improves transient response by reducing rise time, and allows for the reduction of steady-state error through increased loop gain.
Write the analogous electrical elements in force voltage analogy for the elements of mechanical translational system.
Answer
In the force-voltage (F-V) analogy, the mechanical translational system is represented by a series electrical circuit. The analogous elements are determined by comparing the differential equations of both systems, where force is analogous to voltage.
| Mechanical Element | Electrical Element |
|---|---|
| Force (F) | Voltage (v) |
| Mass (M) | Inductance (L) |
| Damping coefficient (B) | Resistance (R) |
| Spring constant (K) | Reciprocal of capacitance (1/C) |
| Velocity (v) | Current (i) |
| Displacement (x) | Charge (q) |
