JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech III SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (August/September - 2024 - R16)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Distinguish PSP and TSP.
Answer
PSP (Personal Software Process) focuses on the individual developer, providing a structured framework to improve their personal performance, quality, and estimation skills by tracking their own work data. In contrast, TSP (Team Software Process) focuses on the team level, providing a framework for self-directed teams to plan, manage, and execute complex software projects effectively while maintaining high quality and meeting delivery schedules.
List and define CMMI levels.
Answer
The Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) defines five levels of process maturity that organizations use to improve their software development and management processes:
- Level 1: Initial - Processes are unpredictable, poorly controlled, and reactive. Success depends entirely on individual effort and heroics rather than established organizational processes.
- Level 2: Managed - Projects are planned, performed, measured, and controlled. Basic project management processes are established to track cost, schedule, and functionality.
- Level 3: Defined - Processes are well-characterized, understood, and described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. The organization uses a consistent set of processes across all projects.
- Level 4: Quantitatively Managed - The organization and projects establish quantitative objectives for quality and process performance, using statistical techniques to manage performance.
- Level 5: Optimizing - The organization focuses on continuous process improvement through incremental and innovative technological changes based on a quantitative understanding of common causes of variation.
