a

What is Mutual Inductance?

2 marks

Answer

Mutual inductance is the property of two or more coils by which a change in current in one coil induces an electromotive force (EMF) in the other coil due to the linkage of magnetic flux. It is denoted by M and measured in Henrys (H).

b

Write the cutset matrix for the graph shown in figure 1 taking branches 3, 4, 6 as tree.

3 marks

Answer

The cutset matrix is constructed by identifying fundamental cutsets formed by adding one link at a time to the tree (branches 3, 4, 6). Each row represents a fundamental cutset, and each column represents a branch. The entry is +1 if the branch direction aligns with the link direction, -1 if it opposes, and 0 if the branch is not in the cutset.
