Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad B.Tech IV MEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART - A
What are resting and action potentials?
Answer
Resting potential is the stable, negative electrical charge across a cell membrane when it is not stimulated, typically around -70 mV. An action potential is the rapid, transient reversal of this membrane potential caused by the influx of sodium ions, which allows for the transmission of electrical signals in neurons and muscle cells.
What is EOG? Explain its significance.
Answer
EOG (Electrooculogram) is the technique for measuring the resting potential of the retina. It is significant for assessing the health of the retinal pigment epithelium and diagnosing various eye diseases, as well as tracking eye movements in sleep studies and human-computer interaction research.
