Answer PaperPaper Code: 132ADMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

Part A

(25 Marks)

125 marks
a

Explain the conversion of Decimal number to Hexadecimal number with an example.

2 marks

Answer

To convert a decimal number to hexadecimal, repeatedly divide the number by 16 and record the remainders. The remainders, read in reverse order, represent the hexadecimal digits (where 10-15 are represented by A-F). For example, to convert 254 to hex: 254 / 16 = 15 remainder 14 (E), 15 / 16 = 0 remainder 15 (F). Thus, 254 in decimal is FE in hexadecimal.

b

Differentiate between declaration and definition of a variable.

3 marks

Answer

A declaration informs the compiler about the name and type of a variable without allocating memory for it. A definition, however, specifies the variable and allocates the necessary memory storage for it. While a variable can be declared multiple times, it can be defined only once.
