JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech III MICROPROCESSORS AND MICROCONTROLLERS Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
When does the 8086 processor is in minimum mode and maximum mode?
Answer
The 8086 processor operates in minimum mode when the MN/MX pin is connected to +5V (logic high), allowing the processor to generate all bus control signals directly. It operates in maximum mode when the MN/MX pin is grounded (logic low), requiring an external 8288 bus controller to generate bus control signals for multi-processor configurations.
List different types of 8086 hardware interrupts.
Answer
The hardware interrupts of the 8086 are:
- NMI (Non-Maskable Interrupt): A high-priority interrupt that cannot be disabled by software.
- INTR (Interrupt Request): A maskable interrupt that can be enabled or disabled using the STI and CLI instructions.
Write the different logical instructions of 8086.
