JNTU B.Tech II DATA COMMUNICATION Previous Question Paper (December - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
What are the functions of Network architecture.
Answer
Network architecture functions include providing a structured framework for communication, ensuring interoperability between heterogeneous devices, managing data flow control, error detection and correction, and facilitating modularity through layered protocols.
For an 8-PSK system operating at an information bit rate of 56Kbps, determine: i) Baud ii) Minimum bandwidth iii) bandwidth efficiency.
Answer
Given: Bit rate (R) = 56 kbps, M = 8 (for 8-PSK, n = log2(8) = 3 bits/symbol).
- Baud rate = R / n = 56000 / 3 = 18.67 kilo-symbols/second.
- Minimum bandwidth = Baud rate = 18.67 kHz.
- Bandwidth efficiency = R / B = 56 / 18.67 = 3 bits/s/Hz.
