JNTU B.Tech I MATRICES AND CALCULUS Previous Question Paper (September - 2023 - R22)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part-A is a compulsory question. Part-B consists of ten questions (numbered from 2 to 11) carrying 10 marks each. From each unit, there are two questions and the student should answer one of them.
PART - A
Define rank of a matrix.
Answer
The rank of a matrix is the maximum number of linearly independent rows or columns in the matrix, which is equivalent to the order of the largest non-zero minor of the matrix.
What do you mean by indirect methods?
Answer
Indirect methods are iterative numerical techniques used to solve systems of linear equations by starting with an initial approximation and refining it through successive iterations until convergence is reached, such as the Jacobi or Gauss-Seidel methods.
What is characteristic equation of a matrix?
