Answer PaperPaper Code: 132AJMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B.
ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, answer all questions.
iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

What is meant by a constant voltage source and a constant current source?

2 marks

Answer

A constant voltage source is an ideal source that maintains a fixed terminal voltage regardless of the current drawn from it. A constant current source is an ideal source that delivers a fixed current to any load connected across its terminals, regardless of the voltage developed across it.

b

What is meant by power factor of an AC circuit? What is its minimum value and its maximum value?

3 marks

Answer

The power factor of an AC circuit is defined as the cosine of the phase angle difference between the voltage and the current. It represents the ratio of real power to apparent power. Its minimum value is 0 (for purely inductive or capacitive circuits) and its maximum value is 1 (for purely resistive circuits).
