JNTU B.Tech IV AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (June - 2024 - R16)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
PART - A
Write the components of a four wheeler automobile.
Answer
The main components of a four-wheeler automobile include the chassis, engine (power plant), transmission system (clutch, gearbox, propeller shaft, differential, and axles), steering system, braking system, suspension system, wheels and tyres, and the electrical system.
Why does the lower end of the connecting rod have to be split?
Answer
The lower end (big end) of the connecting rod is split to allow it to be assembled around the crankshaft journal. Since the crankshaft has large diameter webs and journals, a solid circular big end cannot be slid over the crankpin; splitting it into two halves (the rod and the cap) enables secure mounting with bearing inserts.
