JNTU B.Tech III MECHANICAL MEASUREMENTS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS Previous Question Paper (July/August - 2023 - R16)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Write the objectives of instrumentation.
Answer
The primary objectives of instrumentation are to provide accurate measurement of physical variables for monitoring, control, and analysis of engineering systems. It enables data acquisition for performance evaluation, system optimization, and safety assurance.
Define active and passive transducers with example.
Answer
Active transducers generate their own electrical output signal directly from the physical quantity being measured without requiring an external power source, such as a piezoelectric crystal or thermocouple. Passive transducers require an external power source for operation, as they change their electrical parameters like resistance, capacitance, or inductance, such as a strain gauge or LVDT.
What are direct and indirect methods of level measurements?
