Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

PART - A

a

What is triangle law of force?

2 marks

Answer

The triangle law of forces states that if two forces acting at a point are represented in magnitude and direction by the two sides of a triangle taken in order, then their resultant is represented by the third side of the triangle taken in the opposite order.

b

State and explain Lami’s theorem.

3 marks

Answer

Lami's theorem states that if three coplanar forces acting at a point are in equilibrium, then each force is proportional to the sine of the angle between the other two forces.

P / sin(α) = Q / sin(β) = R / sin(γ)

Here, P, Q, and R are the three forces, and α, β, and γ are the angles opposite to the respective forces.

c
