JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech IV Year NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
List most commonly used NDT methods.
Answer
The most commonly used NDT methods are: Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Eddy Current Testing (ET).
What is meant by felicity effect and felicity ratio in acoustic emission testing?
Answer
The Felicity Effect is the observation of acoustic emission signals at a stress level below the previous maximum applied stress level. The Felicity Ratio is defined as the ratio of the load at which acoustic emission activity begins during a subsequent loading cycle to the maximum load applied in the previous cycle.
