JNTU B.Tech II FUNDAMENTALS OF GEOLOGY Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2017 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
Part A
Draw the figure of internal structure of the earth.
Answer
The internal structure of the Earth consists of three concentric layers: the Crust (outermost, thin layer), the Mantle (middle layer, rich in silicate rocks), and the Core (innermost, divided into a liquid outer core and a solid inner core). A diagram would show these as spherical shells with the crust being the thinnest, the mantle being the thickest, and the core at the center.
Write about Glacial deposits.
Answer
Glacial deposits, or drift, are materials transported and deposited by glaciers. They are classified into two main types: Till, which is unsorted, unstratified debris deposited directly by ice (e.g., moraines), and Outwash, which is sorted and stratified material deposited by meltwater streams flowing from the glacier.
