Answer PaperPaper Code: 113APMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.

Part A

125 marks
a

Give the statement of KVL.

2 marks

Answer

Kirchhoff's Voltage Law (KVL) states that the algebraic sum of all voltages around any closed loop in a circuit is equal to zero. Mathematically, it is expressed as ΣV = 0.

b

Explain about the properties of parallel connection.

3 marks

Answer

In a parallel circuit, the following properties hold:

  • The voltage across each branch is the same.
  • The total current is the sum of the individual branch currents.
  • The reciprocal of the equivalent resistance is the sum of the reciprocals of the individual resistances: 1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + ... + 1/Rn.
  • The equivalent resistance is always less than the smallest individual resistance in the circuit.
