JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech II Year PRINCIPLES OF CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2017 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
Part A
What is the basic principle of surveying?
Answer
The fundamental principle of surveying is to work from the whole to the part. This involves establishing a system of primary control points with high precision over a large area first, and then filling in the details using less precise methods, which prevents the accumulation of errors.
Define Meridian, Azimuth and bearing.
Answer
Meridian is a fixed reference line, usually the true north-south line passing through a point. Azimuth is the horizontal angle measured clockwise from the north meridian to a survey line. Bearing is the horizontal angle between a survey line and a reference meridian (true, magnetic, or arbitrary).
