JNTU B.Tech III PETROLEUM PRODUCTION ENGINEERING AND DESIGN Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART - A
Define Fuel? Write different types of fuels.
Answer
A fuel is any material that can be made to react with other substances so that it releases energy as heat or to be used for work. Fuels are classified into three types: solid fuels (e.g., coal, wood), liquid fuels (e.g., gasoline, diesel), and gaseous fuels (e.g., natural gas, LPG).
What are the desirable properties of Oil as a fuel?
Answer
Desirable properties of fuel oil include: 1) High calorific value for efficient energy release. 2) Low viscosity to ensure ease of pumping and atomization. 3) Low sulfur and ash content to minimize environmental pollution and equipment corrosion. 4) High flash point for safe storage and handling.
