JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD B.Tech IV Year ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY TECHNIQUES Previous Question Paper (December - 2019 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART-A
Define Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process.
Answer
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is the implementation of techniques for increasing the amount of crude oil that can be extracted from an oil field, beyond what is possible through primary and secondary recovery methods.
State the needs and targets of enhanced oil recovery.
Answer
The need for EOR arises because primary and secondary methods often leave behind significant quantities of residual oil trapped by capillary and viscous forces. The primary targets are to reduce interfacial tension, improve the mobility ratio, and mobilize bypassed oil in heterogeneous reservoirs.
