JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD MCA V Semester SOFTWARE TESTING METHODOLOGIES Previous Question Paper (June/July - 2018 - R13)
Part A is compulsory which carries 20 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
Part A
What is bug? What are the consequences of bugs? Explain.
Answer
A bug is a fault, error, or flaw in a software system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways. Consequences include system crashes, data corruption, security vulnerabilities, financial loss, loss of user trust, and increased maintenance costs due to the need for rework and debugging.
Name and explain different data flow testing strategies.
Answer
Data flow testing focuses on the points where variables receive values and where they are used. Key strategies include:
- All-Defs Strategy: Ensures every definition of a variable is followed by at least one use of that variable.
- All-Uses Strategy: Ensures that for every definition of a variable, every possible use (both computation and predicate) is covered.
- All-DU-Paths Strategy: The most rigorous strategy, requiring that all definition-use paths (the path from a definition to a specific use) are exercised.
Explain how domain testing can be used in both functional and structural testing.
