JNTU B.Pharmacy III CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY Previous Question Paper (December-2019 - R17)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Answer all questions. Each question carries 2.5 marks (scaled from provided marks).
Explain the general properties of a cell
Answer
Cells are the fundamental structural and functional units of life. They possess the ability to reproduce independently, maintain homeostasis, respond to environmental stimuli, and perform metabolic activities to convert energy for cellular processes.
Describe the cell wall structure of E.coli and plant
Answer
The E. coli cell wall is composed of a thin layer of peptidoglycan located between the inner cytoplasmic membrane and an outer membrane, which contains lipopolysaccharides. In contrast, the plant cell wall is a rigid structure primarily composed of cellulose microfibrils embedded in a matrix of hemicellulose and pectin, providing structural support and protection.
