Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad B.Tech II ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING Previous Question Paper (April - 2018 - R15)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
Part A
Explain the basic principle of indicating instruments.
Answer
Indicating instruments operate on the principle that when a current-carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force. This force produces a deflecting torque that moves the pointer across a calibrated scale against a controlling torque provided by springs or gravity.
Explain (i) Current Divider rule and (ii) Voltage Divider rule.
Answer
i) The Current Divider Rule states that for two parallel resistors R1 and R2, the current through one resistor is the total current multiplied by the ratio of the other resistor to the sum of both: I1 = I * (R2 / (R1 + R2)).
ii) The Voltage Divider Rule states that for two series resistors R1 and R2, the voltage across one resistor is the total voltage multiplied by the ratio of that resistor to the sum of both: V1 = V * (R1 / (R1 + R2)).
