Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad B.Tech III Year RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Previous Question Paper (May - 2018 - R15)
Part A is compulsory (25 Marks). Answer all questions. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit (10 marks each).
Part A
What are the advantages, and limitations of renewable energy sources.
Answer
Advantages include inexhaustible supply, minimal greenhouse gas emissions, and reduced dependence on fossil fuels. Limitations include intermittency, high initial capital costs, and low energy density requiring large land areas.
Distinguish between diffuse radiation and beam radiation.
Answer
Beam radiation (direct radiation) is solar radiation received from the sun without having been scattered by the atmosphere. Diffuse radiation is solar radiation received from the sun after its direction has been changed by scattering by the atmosphere.
