JNTU B.Tech III NANOTECHNOLOGY Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2018 - R16)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART - A
What are the unique features of Nanotechnology? Why it is different from other technologies?
Answer
Nanotechnology is defined by the quantum confinement effect, high surface-to-volume ratio, and unique size-dependent properties. It differs from conventional technologies because material behavior at the nanoscale is governed by quantum mechanics rather than classical physics, allowing for the manipulation of matter at the atomic or molecular level.
Will TiO2 semiconductor can be used as sun screen creams/lotions? If so, explain briefly.
Answer
Yes, TiO2 nanoparticles are widely used in sunscreens. They act as a physical UV filter by scattering and reflecting harmful UV radiation. Nanoscale TiO2 is preferred because it is transparent on the skin, unlike bulk TiO2 which appears as a white, opaque paste.
