JNTU B.Tech II Year FORMAL LANGUAGES AND AUTOMATA THEORY Previous Question Paper (December - 2018 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B.
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A.
Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit.
Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART- A
(25 Marks)
Define DFA.
Answer
A Deterministic Finite Automaton (DFA) is a mathematical model of computation used to recognize a set of all possible input strings. It consists of a finite set of states, a finite set of input symbols (alphabet), a transition function, a start state, and a set of accept states.
Design FA which accepts set of all strings ending with 00.
Answer
The FA needs to accept strings ending with '00'.
States:
- q0: Initial state, no '0' seen yet.
- q1: Seen one '0' at the end.
- q2: Seen '00' at the end (accept state).
Transitions:
- From q0, on input '0', go to q1. On input '1', stay in q0.
- From q1, on input '0', go to q2. On input '1', go to q0.
- From q2, on input '0', go to q1. On input '1', go to q0.
Start State: q0
Accept State: q2
