JNTU B.Tech III ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION Previous Question Paper (March - 2024 - R16)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Define Fidelity.
Answer
Fidelity is the ability of an instrument to reproduce the changes in the input signal faithfully without any dynamic error. It represents the degree to which the output waveform is an exact replica of the input waveform.
Outline the precautions to be considered while using Ammeters and Voltmeters.
Answer
- Ammeters must always be connected in series with the load and should have very low internal resistance to minimize loading effects.
- Voltmeters must always be connected in parallel with the component being measured and should have very high internal resistance to avoid drawing significant current.
- Always ensure the polarity is correct for DC measurements and check that the range selected is higher than the expected value to prevent meter damage.

Part B
The pointer of d’ Arsonval meter movement gives full scale deflection of 20mA. The potential difference across the meter when carrying 20mA is 400mV. Determine i) the shunt resistance required to design 0- 200mA range ammeter. ii) the series resistance required to design 0- 1V range voltmeter.
