Part A
What is meant by mobile computing?
Answer
Mobile computing is a technology that allows the transmission of data, voice, and video via a computer or any other wireless-enabled device without having to be connected to a fixed physical link. It enables users to access network services and computing resources while moving from one location to another, ensuring seamless connectivity and mobility.
What are the tele services of GSM Protocol?
Answer
GSM teleservices provide end-to-end communication capabilities that include the necessary terminal equipment functions. Unlike bearer services, which only provide the transmission path, teleservices cover the entire communication process from user to user.
The primary GSM teleservices are:
- Telephony: The standard voice service, which includes emergency calls and various supplementary services like call forwarding and call waiting.
- Short Message Service (SMS): Allows for the transmission of alphanumeric messages between mobile stations and the Short Message Service Center (SMSC).
- Facsimile Service: Supports the transmission of Group 3 facsimile documents between mobile stations and fixed network terminals.
- Voice Mail and Videotex: Specialized services that allow for message storage and interactive information retrieval, respectively.
