B.Tech | II Year | II-I | R16 | November/December - 2017

Answer PaperPaper Code: 133BJMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

Define Graph, Tree, Basic Cut set and Basic Tie set. Illustrate with an example.

2 marks

Answer

A Graph is a collection of nodes connected by branches. A Tree is a connected subgraph containing all nodes but no closed loops. A Basic Cut set is a set of branches that, when removed, disconnects the graph, containing exactly one tree branch. A Basic Tie set is a fundamental loop formed by adding one link to a tree.

b

Explain Active elements in detail.

3 marks

Answer

Active elements are components capable of delivering energy to a network. Examples include voltage and current sources. They can be independent, where the source value is fixed, or dependent, where the source value is controlled by another voltage or current in the circuit.

c

Derive the relation between voltage and current in a series connected RL Circuits.
