JNTU B.Tech III MICROPROCESSORS AND MICROCONTROLLERS Previous Question Paper (February - 2023 - R16)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
PART A
When does the 8086 processor is in minimum mode and maximum mode?
Answer
The 8086 processor operates in minimum mode when the MN/MX pin is connected to +5V (logic high), allowing the processor to generate all bus control signals directly. It operates in maximum mode when the MN/MX pin is grounded (logic low), requiring an external 8288 bus controller to generate bus control signals for multi-processor configurations.
Draw the flag register of 8086 Microprocessor.
Answer
The 8086 flag register is a 16-bit register containing 9 active flags:
| D15-D12 | D11 (OF) | D10 (DF) | D9 (IF) | D8 (TF) | D7 (SF) | D6 (ZF) | D5 | D4 (AF) | D3 | D2 (PF) | D1 | D0 (CF) |
Where OF=Overflow, DF=Direction, IF=Interrupt, TF=Trap, SF=Sign, ZF=Zero, AF=Auxiliary Carry, PF=Parity, and CF=Carry flag.
