GPS time is an atomic time scale maintained by the GPS ground control segment. It is referenced to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) but does not include leap seconds, making it a continuous time scale that began on January 6, 1980.
How to calculate user position and velocity?
Answer
User position is calculated by solving the trilateration equations using pseudorange measurements from at least four satellites to determine the receiver's coordinates (x, y, z) and clock bias. Velocity is determined by calculating the Doppler shift of the received carrier frequency or by computing the time derivative of the position measurements over successive epochs.
