JNTU B.Tech III MICROPROCESSORS AND MICROCONTROLLERS Previous Question Paper (November/December - 2018 - R16)
Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.
Part A
What is meant by register organization in 8086 microprocessor ?
Answer
Register organization in the 8086 microprocessor refers to the arrangement and classification of its internal 16-bit registers, which include general-purpose registers (AX, BX, CX, DX), pointer and index registers (SP, BP, SI, DI), segment registers (CS, DS, SS, ES), and the instruction pointer and flags register, all used for data manipulation, memory addressing, and status tracking.
What is meant physical memory organization in 8086 microprocessor?
Answer
Physical memory organization in the 8086 involves a 1 MB address space organized into two 512 KB banks (even and odd banks) connected to the lower and upper halves of the 16-bit data bus. This allows the processor to access either a byte or a 16-bit word efficiently using the BHE (Bus High Enable) signal and address line A0.
