JNTU B.Tech II TRANSDUCERS AND INSTRUMENTATION Previous Question Paper (May - 2019 - R15)
Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.
PART- A
What are the advantages of semiconductor strain gauges?
Answer
Semiconductor strain gauges offer a very high gauge factor (typically 50 to 200), providing high sensitivity. They are also physically small and have excellent fatigue life compared to metallic gauges.
How the gyroscope angular velocity sensor works? Explain.
Answer
A gyroscope measures angular velocity based on the principle of conservation of angular momentum. When the device rotates, the Coriolis force acts on a vibrating mass or structure within the sensor. This force causes a displacement proportional to the angular velocity, which is then detected capacitively or piezoelectrically and converted into an electrical signal.
