Part A
What are the different multimedia tools?
Answer
Multimedia tools are categorized into: Authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Director, Authorware), Image editing tools (e.g., Photoshop), Sound editing tools (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition), Video editing tools (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), and Animation tools (e.g., Maya, Blender).
What size of ordered dither matrix is required to display a 5-bit gray scale image on a 1-bit printer?
Answer
To display a 5-bit gray scale image (32 levels) on a 1-bit printer, the dither matrix must be able to represent at least 32 distinct intensity levels. A square dither matrix of size N x N provides N2 + 1 intensity levels. Setting N2 + 1 ≥ 32 gives N2 ≥ 31, which requires a minimum matrix size of 6 x 6.
