JNTU B.Tech II COMPUTER ORGANIZATION AND MICROPROCESSOR Previous Question Paper (April/May - 2023 - R18)
Note: i) Question paper consists of Part A, Part B. ii) Part A is compulsory, which carries 25 marks. In Part A, Answer all questions. iii) In Part B, Answer any one question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b as sub questions.
Part A
Draw the block diagram of a digital computer.
Answer
The block diagram of a digital computer consists of the Central Processing Unit (CPU), Memory Unit, and Input/Output (I/O) units, all interconnected by a system bus (Data, Address, and Control buses). The CPU contains the Control Unit, Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), and registers.
What is Fetch and Decode? Explain.
Answer
Fetch is the process where the CPU retrieves an instruction from memory using the Program Counter. Decode is the process where the Control Unit interprets the fetched instruction to determine the required operation and operands.
