Answer PaperPaper Code: 134BCMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Note: This question paper contains two parts A and B. Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks and may have a, b, c as sub questions.

Part A

125 marks
a

Explain the difference between simple and differential manometer.

2 marks

Answer

A simple manometer consists of a glass tube having one end connected to the point where pressure is to be measured and the other end open to the atmosphere. A differential manometer consists of a U-tube containing a heavy liquid, with both ends connected to two different points whose pressure difference is to be measured.

b

Derive dimensions for Bulk modulus (k) and kinematic viscosity.

3 marks

Answer

Bulk modulus (K) is the ratio of change in pressure to volumetric strain. Its dimension is [M L⁻¹ T⁻²]. Kinematic viscosity (ν) is the ratio of dynamic viscosity to density, with dimensions [L² T⁻¹].
