Answer PaperPaper Code: 113BEMaximum Marks: 75Time: 3 Hours

Part A is compulsory which carries 25 marks. Answer all questions in Part A. Part B consists of 5 Units. Answer any one full question from each unit. Each question carries 10 marks.

Part A

125 marks
a

Define the KCL and KVL.

2 marks

Answer

Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) states that the algebraic sum of currents meeting at any junction or node in an electrical circuit is zero. Kirchhoff's Voltage Law (KVL) states that the algebraic sum of all voltages around any closed loop in a circuit is zero.

b

Define self and mutual inductances.

3 marks

Answer

Self-inductance is the property of a coil to oppose any change in current flowing through it by inducing an electromotive force (EMF) within itself. Mutual inductance is the property by which a change in current in one coil induces an EMF in an adjacent, magnetically coupled coil.

c

Define i) average value ii) RMS value of alternating quantity.
